During the past 20 years, exciting developments in Maya studies have greatly refined our understanding of Maya life.  Newly discovered texts and advances in decipherment have enabled us to peer more deeply into the past. Excavations at Palenque shed new light on the city after Pakal. Murals at San Bartolo in Olmec-Maya style blur the boundary between Classic and Pre-classic times. Satellites are finding ruins beneath the jungle canopy. The tomb of the founder at Copan links that city to Teotihuacan. Work at Caracol, Dos Pilas, and El Peru uncovers the conflicts between these city states, and the roles of Calakmul and Tikal in the proxy wars in the Peten. The collapse of the Classic Maya in the southern lowlands is now seen as a cascade of environmental and social changes that took place over more than a century.

As a celebration of these discoveries and the ancients themselves, the Mayan Calendar presents their accomplishments in two forms—-art and architecture. Take a tour with us into the past, to one of the most fascinating and enigmatic civilizations of the ancient world.

The Mayan Calendar is 9" X 12", printed in color on heavy stock. They make beautiful Christmas presents. To use your credit card, please click on the PayPal logo below.
